A young couple, where the husband enjoys cooking and the wife loves hosting gatherings, prompted a focus on a spacious kitchen and inviting public space in this 2B2B layout. Initially, an original closed kitchen limited the efficient use of the fragmented public space.
My design demolished kitchen partitions, creating an open layout while reorganizing appliance placements for better functionality. This allowed for a dedicated dining area accommodating 4-6 people, seamlessly integrating living, dining, and work areas—a perfect fit for their work- from-home needs.
Strategic ceiling planning enhances the space: a lowered ceiling near the kitchen entry directs attention to the outside scenery upon entry, creating an expansive feel in the living area. This space-efficiently conceals air conditioning, heating units, and range hood ducts.
Materials and design were curated for impact. Dark wood floors and vibrant foyer tiles set the tone, mirroring the hostess's personality. Light firmiana wood cabinets and mauve Venetian plaster paint infuse warmth. Varied lighting—from recessed lights, pendent to flexible track lights—accentuates different areas, giving the home its unique character through material and light interplay.
